Neutrals in Nature

Photography By: Sam Cummings and Lena Farber
You can truly never go wrong with a fully neutral look, no matter the occasion. It’s simple, but can be made elegant, edgy, or casual. We stepped out of our comfort zone and into some of Tucson’s (not-so) finest nature, where we accumulated a few cuts and bruises, hopped a fence or two, and risked freezing during a very cold Tucson sunrise. We did, however, manage to make it out alive to share with you how we personally choose to style neutral colors!

For this outfit I wanted to keep it simple. I usually like to wear a lot of color, so it was nice to change it up and wear neutrals. I chose to stick to earth tones, but I decided to add a pop of color with my shoes. I wanted to keep my look girly, but sophisticated.

What’s fun about neutrals is that you can create, what is essentially, a monochromatic look and nobody can fault you for it. That’s why it’s so easy to throw on a pair of jeans with a graphic tee and a pair of sneakers, and walk out the door with no problem! Just accessorize with a fun belt or some jewelry and you have a super casual, yet comfortable outfit that can be worn any day of the week!

I thrive when I’m able to create a look purely out of neutral colors. I think it’s so easy to throw together a fully neutral look for any occasion, which is why I was so excited for this shoot! I chose to wear my favorite black overall dress from ZARA and left one of the straps undone. Underneath, I layered a long-sleeved, striped mock neck with a plain white tee that says, “the love of my life is myself.” The fun part about neutral outfits is that you are able to play up the accessories, so, naturally, I had to pull out my favorite pair of silver star earrings for the occasion!

It’s finally the time of year where we’re able to bring out our spring clothing! I chose some pastel, yet very neutral colors to complement the overall aesthetic we were aiming for. I loved putting this outfit together to make something really casual and neutral, but still with a few pops of color!

Although it’s warming up in Tucson, it’s definitely nice to have a sweater to throw on when it’s still a little chilly in the morning or at night, which is why this forest green zip-up was perfect for the shoot! It’s earth-toned but still adds a bit of color to the overall outfit. A denim skirt and a black crop top are the perfect pair for any casual, simple look!
