Neon often gets a bad rap for looking tacky, cheap, and like you’ve taken a few too many notes from the 80’s and 90’s. However, we can assure you that it’s possible to pull off this trend without looking like a traffic cone! We headed over to the Museum of Contemporary Art here in Tucson to utilize their current “DAZZLED: OMD, Memphis Design, and Beyond” exhibit to show you how we style our favorite neon pieces. Our outfits inspired the most vibrant day full of art, breakdancing (courtesy of Tate), and laughter! Anyone in the Tucson area is highly encouraged to venture to the MoCA to see this amazing exhibit!
Look One: Tate
For this shoot, I chose to wear a cropped hoodie, pink jeans, and white adidas. I had to steal this white, mesh, cropped hoodie from my best friend’s closet because it is perfect for the fluctuating weather we seem to be having in Tucson as of late. My pink jeans are my favorite pants ever! They are comfortable enough for any occasion (comfy enough to do a baby freeze in the middle of the museum) and they are from my favorite denim brand–Hudson jeans.
My white adidas have seen better days, but are still one of my go to pairs of sneakers for style and support. This shoot was so much fun and full of laughter and adventure. If you have a chance to see it in Tucson I highly recommend it!

Anyone who knows me can tell you that I typically gravitate toward neutral colors when it comes to my wardrobe, so the neon trend was one I was initially hesitant to get on board with. Because of this, I wanted to mix and match vibrant and muted hues in order to balance the boldness.
I chose to keep things simple with a neon green tee from Forever 21 that I tied up in the front. I paired this with a pair of linen pants from Brandy Melville and my absolute go-to, prized-possession, Doc Martens. I accessorized with a clear belt from Princess Polly, which I felt appropriately matched the contemporary look we were aiming for. With the fluctuating weather we’ve been having, I brought a plain, black denim jacket to throw over the top to transition the outfit from day to night.

Look Three: Mika
I am a big fan of both the neon and animal print trends, so when I saw this shirt at Forever 21, I knew I had to have it! I like to showcase my personality through my clothing, so this shoot was a perfect excuse for me to break out my brightest and most vibrant pieces.
I stayed on trend by incorporating my biker shorts as well. They provide comfort and style, and the neutral black color paired perfectly with my otherwise bold outfit. I finished off the look with my favorite pair of platform Doc Martens and a Juicy Couture backpack to keep things fun and playful. Overall, my entire look was fairly easy to curate considering everything I am wearing is extremely on trend at the moment.
