The love month. Valentine’s Day is a time to reciprocate the love from those who love you. Whether it be, a girlfriend/boyfriend, best friend, husband/wife, or parents, the feeling of love applies to all. It is the perfect occasion to dress up and go to a nice dinner or have a night in with friends and a tub of ice cream. However, Valentine’s Day is so much more than the heart candies, cards, and an air of reds and pinks. Take this time to enjoy the loved ones around you.
Location: Green Things
Look One: Kami
[Kami]: My closet is essentially an assortment of shades of black and white, so Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to be a little bolder than usual and pull out the reds and pinks. Winters in Tucson are more forgiving than others, so this red cropped tank from Forever 21 is a perfect piece to play up the fun of this holiday without overheating in our summer-like weather. This top is perfectly fitted and flattering, and the frills at the bottom and on the straps are small, flirty details that seamlessly fit the aesthetic of this holiday.
[Kami]: Gingham is a definite staple in my wardrobe and happens to be the perfect pattern to complement a color as daring as red. I chose to couple my red top with these high-waisted gingham pants to add a little flair to the outfit. I pieced together the whole look with a pair of chunky heel, studded sandals from Steve Madden. This made the look slightly more formal but could easily be switched out with your favorite pair of white sneakers to tone the look down. With a look that incorporates a statement color such as red, it is important to play down the accessories. I reached for a dainty choker and a slightly longer necklace that is equally as subtle.

Look Two: Cristina
[Cristina]: For Valentine’s Day, there is always this stereotypical theme of wearing reds, pinks, and florals. Of course, I’ve decided to embrace this, because it comes with the territory. Usually, neutrals are a staple for me. However, I have been stepping out of my neutral tone safe zone and experimenting with light pinks, and the occasional pop of color such as red. Holidays or special occasions are the perfect opportunity to explore these new styles and make a bold move with your wardrobe choices!
[Cristina]: For my first outfit, I wore this beautiful black dress with red floral details from Kate Spade. The light and airy material with the levels of ruffles makes it light and floaty, as well as classy and girly. To keep everything else relaxed and balanced, I slicked back my hair into a low bun and wore these delicate studs for earrings. Last but not least, you can never go wrong with wearing nude heels. If you want to tone the look down a bit more, replace the heels with some cute strappy sandals and wear your hair down in a more relaxed manner. This look is perfect for your Valentine’s Day date night!

Look Three: Nicole and Cristina
[Cristina]: Valentine’s Day looks can be done in two ways — casual or dressy. For Nicole’s look, she toned things done with an effortless outfit contrasted with a fun pop of color from the shoes. These light-wash high-waisted vintage Levi’s are the quintessential “boyfriend” fit and can be paired well with any cropped, or tucked in, blouse. To keep with the festive theme, she added color through her hot pink converse and tied a silk scarf into her pony tail. Quick tip- tying up your pony or top knot bun with a silk scarf transforms a simple look into an elevated effortless chic outfit!
[Cristina]: For my second outfit, I toned things done with a day time, or casual Valentine’s look. A white denim dress is my favorite thing to throw on, because most tops pair so nicely with it. For this particular outfit, I layered the overalls on top of a light pink crop top sweater for a sweeter look. White sneakers, white slides, or even nude heels is a perfect way to tie this entire outfit together. Lastly, don’t forget to accessorize with a statement pair of earrings!

Look Four: Jordan
[Jordan]: When I think of Valentine’s Day, I think of pink and white. That’s what I thought about when putting together my outfit. My shirt is from Forever 21 and was on the sale rack. My shoes are also from Forever 21, and reasonably priced. My pants are from Pacsun. I thought that a pink striped shirt paired with metallic pink shoes was a good compliment, and added to the effect of Valentine’s day vibes. I tied my shirt into a knot at the front, just to add a little something to my simple tee. This would be an ideal casual outfit, simply for a casual day.

Look Five: George
[George]: Silent Killer shirt: I feel like a lot of people put on a front as if they have never been hurt before. So, on the front of the shirt, there is a heart made of spots. These spots form a heart which is meant to represent the “Front” that people put on. The cities are all crossed out because no matter where you are from, the effects of love are felt. On the left shoulder is the phrase silent killer, which represents what is behind the “Front”. Love is a silent killer, it can make you feel small and can cause you to do things you never imagined yourself doing.
[George]: Pants: Have you ever had someone laugh at you for doing what you really want to do? Yup same, that feeling of anger and craving a desire for revenge. That’s how they were made. Not revenge in a violent way tho, but like pay back. When I came up with the design for the denim, I wasn’t in a place where I could make them come out like they did. During that same time, I was at home visiting my old friends from high school. Most of my friends were shooting for business degrees, and when I said I was starting a clothing brand, they changed the way they looked at me. I felt like I was in a sort of social jail, because what I was doing different. I portrayed that on the denim. Using spray paint which provides a sort of rebellious aesthetic, and the vertical lines portraying bars on a jail cell.

Look Six: Tate
[Tate]: For my Valentine’s day outfit, I wanted a feminine, yet flirty look so I opted for a floral two-piece set from Lulu’s. I love Lulu’s because their prices are super affordable and they have a huge assortment to choose from. My outfit selection was inspired by the soon coming season of spring and Valentine’s Day.
[Tate]: My two-piece is somewhat more fancy, so I dressed it down with beige Steve Madden ankle boots. My favorite part of this outfit was the red flowers because they really stood out against the backdrop of the various plants at the greenhouse.
Booties: Steve Madden
Look Seven: Marlene
[Cristina]: Valentine’s Day isn’t always about conforming to the pinks, reds, and whites. For this outfit, Marlene wears an orange knit sweater paired with pin striped trousers. As I’ve mentioned in almost every blog post, trousers are more comfortable than jeans and add a level of sophistication to any outfit. Wear trousers for a causal or fancy date night with your loved one or best friend. Dress the look down with a sweater or tee, or dress it up with an eyelash lace tank and blazer, or a silky button down.
[Cristina]: To pull the look together, Marlene accessorized with fun black statement earrings and black sandals. Statement earrings are a great way to dress up any outfit. With these earrings, other accessorizing isn’t necessary, for it adds an elevated effect on its own.

Look Eight: Tamanna
[Tamanna]: Although Valentine’s Day is known for it’s red and pink color scheme, either red is too bright or you just don’t want to stick to the theme. For me, I just don’t own much of red so, I chose this white top from Free People because accented bows on the sleeves and back give a romantic touch. This outfit is perfect if you want your outfit to be somewhere between casual and fancy while not being too extra about the Valentine’s Day.
[Tamanna]: The pink suede heels help with a slight pop to the outfit, as do the heart sunglasses that showed the playful side of Valentine’s Day. I chose black jeans to finish off the outfit because it gives it a clean look while adding some color blocking. Also, the rips allowing the casual side of the outfit to shine through.

Jeans: Hollister Co.
Heels: Charlotte Russe
Look Nine: Brett
[Brett]: Valentine’s Day is a very special day. I think that even if you’re not dating or married to someone it’s a day where you can celebrate the people you love such as your friends and family. Valentine’s Day is also a fun holiday because it sort of unofficially starts spring in a lot of ways. For fashion it can make the turn from dark winter colors to bright reds and pinks and all the colors that go along with spring into your wardrobe.
Jacket: Pink Hundreds Windbreak
Shoes: White classic Reeboks
Accessories: Apple Watch
Look Ten: Tula
[Tula]: This outfit is perfect for a casual date with someone special or with friends on Valentine’s day. The pink shoes added a dash of innocent romance. The polka dot top gives the outfit a flavor of sultry class. High waist jeans spices the outfit with that down-to-earth spice. Wear with bright pink lipstick and feel as cute as Cupid.

Shoes: Old Navy
Look Eleven: Meredith
[Cristina]: A classic look suits every occasion. Meredith wears a little black dress, paired with a pop of color from her maroon clutch. Keeping it simple is the perfect way to go, because these looks are always timeless. For Meredith’s second look, she wears a beautifully printed, black and white floral dress. The neckline is elegant yet flattering, and requires little to no accessories. The dress makes all the statements.
