With skateboarding becoming more and more popular since the late 1990’s, what skateboarders wore has transformed to become more fashionable, evolving into street wear. Street wear fashion over the last couple decades has taken over youth culture and become the new Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
Brands like Supreme, Palace, and Off-White, among others have created a business model that makes consumers feel exclusive and celebrity-like when wearing their clothing. These brands often collaborate with artists and celebrities staying creative and fresh with new trends.
Although streetwear started out as skaters selling t-shirts out of stores in cities like New York, streetwear has taken over runways leading the fashion world with new trends. Be on the lookout for more streetwear influences in the fashion world and in stores that deal in fast fashion such as H&M or Forever 21.
